As a Writing Specialist, your job is primarily that of an instructor. You identify areas in which a student needs improvement, as well as those areas in which they do well in writing, grammar, and APA formatting. You will be asked to explain assignments, rubrics, instructor and CA notes, and also Turnitin reports. Students are counting on you to help them succeed, so each effort should be your best, given the allowed amount of time.
